    Can we change rubber bushes to steel bushes (fabricàte) to get rid of death wobbles

    • @ASimplyFabLife
      @ASimplyFabLife День назад

      Imho, no. Just like the transmission, everything is in balance and related to the next part. If you put steel then you transfer the forces to the next part, and then if you stiffen that you transfer to the next (e.g. steel panhard bushes put pressure on the hockey sticks, then the steering damper, then the track rod ends and you move further up the line until something breaks). If you fit OEM bushes they last for a long time anyway. We've had death shake twice in over ten years (two different Defenders) so not a big deal in the big picture. Both times replacing the panhard bushes sorted it, so keep the 'weakest link' right there as it's an easy fix. I think LR got it quite right overall, but that's just my opinion.

      Yep, loved it! I don't have an answer for you for this time (we booked as a group through Ultimate Uoutes) All I have is we paid €27 for a campsite in 2019 (2pax, 1 vehicle), so that's about bwp400. Hope that helps a bit 🤷?

      Hi Elsabe, thanks for the comment. I don't have an answer for you because we paid international rates for a group, so I have no idea on SADC rates. We had it up for one year constant (travelling through Europe - as in the other video), then sporadic use for another year. I understand what UV can do, and the elements - I get all that. My disappointment is paying 10x the price of a Quechua, where the Quechua performs the same (and I have had a Quechua out for a whole year as well)...

    Hey! What an amazing trip! Thanks for sharing, I’ve been following all the episodes! So cool! My wife and I are heading to Johannesburg at the end of August. We'll spend 5 days in Kruger National Park and then visit the Maun area. Since we decided on this trip a bit last minute, we're going to Botswana without any park reservations. I was thinking of camping near Maun and doing single-day self-drive safaris in the parks. Do you think that’s possible? Or do you need to make reservations well in advance to get into the parks? If you could shed some light on this, I’d be super grateful!

    • @ASimplyFabLife
      @ASimplyFabLife 13 дней назад

      Thanks for your comment ☺️ Sounds great (although I am biased because - Africa!😎🤘). No reservations is risky. It is always busy in Bots and I am not sure if you will get in to Moremi without a campsite booking in advance (although there are stories out there, of course). If you can get accommodation in Maun, an idea is to get a 'day' game drive into Moremi and use Main as your base. I think this question is better answered (and more opinions) on Facebook: DriveBots. On the logistics side I guess you'll be flying from Kruger to Maun? Once again, sounds like a great trip #jealousnotjealous😃😅👍

I find it ever so cool to see Victoria drive without her hands on the wheel, she's a brave girl. I doubt you could let a Defender steer itself like that, at least in my exoeriance it does'nt work. Take care and have it good friends. Chris.

    Most cars have fake synthetic learher nowadays. And personally I do not find it particularly appealing... beauty is something more about the lines, the space, the order, the simplicty... and not so much about having leather, gold and diamonds on it. A 2006 Grand Vitara is an example of a good design. Most leather SUVs today are not, including newer versions of the same Vitara. I hate these ridiculous screens... less is more.

    That's a good demonstration of the water-tightness of the awning, but of course you never want that much water to build up, there. Why do I never see the awning set up at 3/4 or 2/3 or 1/2 height? Seems to me you'd want that option for heavy rain, to keep from creating a lake up there. The only concession to that I've seen in all the photos and videos is running an anchor line from the middle of the far edge of the awning down to the ground, to create a spillway. But the poles at the corners are always at full extension. I would think that a cowboy in foul weather would want his brim pulled low. I wonder if the tight zipper is a result of pulling something too tight, somewhere else on the tent. Like maybe you should zip that door closed before anchoring one or more of the corners... Just a thought. I'm not even sure he had any stakes in the ground when he was showing the tight zipper. But thinking about the mechanics of setup, you kind of can't zip it closed until the tent's stood up and the hinges in the walls are locked in place. It may just be a design flaw that doesn't cause a problem, because they make a good zipper! Just in my experience, whenever I had something like that crop up, it was a user error on my part. But maybe it's just a smidge off in the cutting or stitching of the fabric that got past quality control. LOL! I'll see myself out!

    • @ASimplyFabLife
      @ASimplyFabLife 13 дней назад

      Cheers for the comment(s) Yes, the zipper is only tight right at that spot, so I suspect a stitching error. But it held up fine all year long. The front awning section (with the modular panels) has no option except to set it up with the corner poles at max to get the side panels taut. So there's no real way to get a water runoff🤷‍♂️ Bit of a shame because the basic overall quality is there

    Question: Im new to grilling with gass, I have the same grill and noticed the same problem with the gass losing power when just under half full. What do you do with the gass can then? Do you let it burn out and throw it away (takes forrver)? You can't throw an half full can of gass I figure due to risk of fire etc, so what is the options?

      This is why we moved to the Cadac 2CookPro and a 13kg gas bottle. I just couldn't handle the waste of the gas canisters (the little 'Camp Bistro' is even worse, with those slim canisters that last fifteen minutes!). And yes, we just let it burn out - although dinner would take forever (as you have experienced as well). But nothing a couple of beers couldn't handle😅🤷‍♂️😉
